Onboarding users to invest in US smallcases

Quick Overview

smallcase has always aimed to help long-term investors diversify their portfolios. Until 2022, smallcases were limited to Indian stocks and ETFs.

To help our users stay invested, achieve better returns, and build long-term trust in our platform, we explored adding US stocks and ETFs to our offerings.

Due to RBI guidelines in January 2023 on SBM (our vendor partner), this product had to be discontinued despite being live. 😕

Problem

This was a mammoth of a task for the whole org from b2b (managers side) to B2C (customers side). For this project we from smallcase Gateway worked at helping user onboard so that they can invest in US equities seamlessly

Help users create a 2-1 investment global account with Alpaca & SBM bank in one go via Gateway onboarding flow.

  1. SBM bank savings account: For currency conversion.

  2. Alpaca brokerage account: For buying and selling US stocks.
